Academic Coaching

Why Academic Coaching?

There’s no easy way to finish a PhD program, and often, there isn’t even a clear path to follow. Each step in the long process of earning a doctor of philosophy degree, from settling on a school and a PhD advisor, to choosing your secondary and cognate fields, to preparing for your comprehensive exams and mounting a successful PhD defense involves uncertainty, second-guessing, and plenty of stress. And that’s before you start dissertation writing!

Plan for obstacles

Having an experienced academic coach to guide you through each step in a graduate school program is like having an extra advisor on hand who’s dedicated solely to helping you finish in a timely manner. Having gone through a PhD program myself, I understand what it takes to earn a PhD diploma. I’ve experienced many of the obstacles—passing the impostor syndrome test, overcoming writer’s block, finding ways to stop procrastinating, curbing perfectionism anxiety—that most graduate students face. I can help you develop a plan of action to keep you motivated, productive, and engaged from your doctoral courses to your dissertation defense—and everything in between.
